Homemade Whiskey from Sugarcane. (Desi)

by Jassi
(Midlands,U.K)

Its so simple you should all give it a go!

You need 15-20 litres of Sugarcane juice or same amount of jaggery in Kg.

If you are going to use juice then simply tranfer it into a large barrel, put a lid on it and then leave it to ferment naturally in a warm place.

If you are using jaggery then melt it using water , then transfer it in a barrel and follow same procedure as for juice.

After 5-15 days depending upon the type of raw material you will be able to listen and you will start to hear a cracking sound if you place your ear very close to barrel.

Now your whiskey is ready for distillation.

Add some ripe oranges, grapes or any fruit which you like, at the time of distillation, but dont add too much... 1-2kg at the most.

Your final product will be as clear as water.

Enjoy this traditional Punjabi whiskey.
cheers...
