First drunk on Moonshine...

Growing up in the mountains of Tennessee, folks making moonshine out in the woods was just part of life.

I was 16 years old the first time I got drunk on white lightnin.

I had tasted the clear liquid fire before, but had never consumed enough to actually pull a good un!

My friends Dad made shine as a hobby and had a small variety of different flavors.

My friends parents went outta town one weekend, well for us it was the opportunity!

We called some friends and had a small "get together".

When we couldn't find anyone to buy us any beer, we snuck out to the shed and stocked our party with 3 different flavors of shine; peach, grape, and straight ol' whiskey!

We were having so much fun, the liquor went down smoother with every shot!

I do not recommend moonshine shots to anyone, much less a 16 year old girl!!!

After what was a great night of fun I awoke with a pounding headache and an upside down stomach!

Driving home I knew I was in big trouble, so I put together an outlandish, yet maybe believable story!

I told my dad I had eaten some bad Subway and got food poisoning! He looked at me with that "yea right" look that I figure every Dad would have in his situation!!

Then proceeded to tell me that I not only smelled like a brewery, I was also a horrible liar!

After not 1 but 2 days of nausea and the worst headache ever, I recovered from my "great time".

I can't honestly tell ya I never drank shine again but......I can say that I tried to watch how much I consumed in 1 sitting from there on!

Now days, I can still sip on some good homemade whiskey!

The best ever has to be the apple pie shine a good friend of mine made a while back!

Anytime I come across that apple pie, its definitely a good time to pull another one!
