Pendleton Whisky

Pendleton Whisky - A premium and quality Canadian Whisky

Pendleton Whisky launched in 2003, fills the growing demand for new and innovative drinks, in particular in the premium Canadian whiskies market where innovation has been quite slow and since it was launched it has become one of the fastest growing Whisky brands in America.

While overall category sales trend downward, sales of higher-priced brands such as Crown Royal and Tangle Ridge Whisky have increased significantly.

Pendleton is an oak barrel-aged whisky distilled in Canada. Before bottling, Hood River Distillers in Oregon adds glacier-fed spring water from Mt. Hood (Oregon’s highest peak). Pendleton Whisky has an uncommonly smooth taste and a rich, complex flavour.

Pendleton Whisky was specifically created to celebrate independence and the hard-work ethic of the American cowboy and cowgirl. It’s borne of the rich tradition of the nearly 100-year-old Pendleton Round-Up, one of the most prestigious rodeos in the world.

Pendleton Horse Each Pendleton Whisky bottle prominently features the rodeo’s famous bucking horse symbol and Let’er Buck slogan.

Pendleton Round up

The Pendleton Round-Up began in 1910 and is recognized as one of the oldest and most prestigious rodeos in the world and won the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association's 2003 Large Outdoor Rodeo Committee of the Year Award.

The Happy Canyon Night Show is a colorful display of Indian pageantry and tradition and takes place every night of Round-Up.

"Hood River Distillers and the Pendleton Round-Up are perfect partners in Oregon.

It has been said the partnership celebrates the heritage and helps ensure a successful future for both of these Oregon institutions. Hood River Distillers see the Round up supportas a way of ensuring a long-standing Western tradition continues to thrive.

Steve Corey, past Round-Up President, had this to say, "Hood River Distillers has obtained high-quality Canadian whisky and intends to market a high-end niche product. Round-Up will benefit not only from royalties on bottle sales, but from national exposure of its famous Western event. When it's your turn to order, call up a 'Pendleton.'"

History

Hood River Distillers has a rich and colorful history dating to 1935 when it began making fruit wines and brandies from the apples, pears and berries that were going to waste as excess from the valley's abundant harvests.

In those early days, HRD was using 470,000 boxes of Oregon apples annually to make such products as Old Delicious Brandy.

Production capacity then was 300,000 gallons per year.

Today, HRD is the largest and oldest distillery in the Northwest with a production capacity of five million cases annually.

The company creates, produces, imports and distributes 15 brands of spirits ranging from value to premium products: whisky, rum, gin, vodka, schnapps, Irish cream whiskey, scotch and liqueurs.

While HRD distributes spirits in over 40 states, the core distribution area is Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Montana and Alaska.

For example, one out of every four bottles of liquor sold in Oregon is an HRD product.

HRD is headquartered near the town of Hood River, Ore., with its post card setting along the Columbia River and with majestic Mt. Hood standing guard over the valley.

Hood River is best known for its world-class outdoor sports, such as windsurfing, kiteboarding, skiing and hiking, but increasingly, connoisseurs of fine spirits are hearing about Hood River because of the premium spirits brands distributed by Hood River Distillers.
