Amrut Whisky - A single malt from the foot of the Himalaya's
Amrut Distilleries
Amrut whisky Distilleries are an Indian based drinks company who are trying to muscle in on the established worlwide brands.
The founder was the late Shri J.N. Radhakrishna, J.N.R as he is fondly called to this day., but it is his son and current Chairman of the business who has spearheaded the development of the business into a multinational company.
They have been making alcoholic drinks since 1948 and selling it to predominantly the Indian home market, but have more recently they have chased increased recognition by producing Amrut Single Malt Whisky and with it a growing reputation, in particular across Europe.
AMRUT Single Malt Whisky
AMRUT whisky, single malt is a product of many years research to produce whiskies matching world standards.
This whisky is made from selected Indian barley grown at the feet of the Himalayas, nurtured by the waters flowing there and cultivated by old and traditional agricultural practices.
It is carefully mashed and distilled in small batches to preserve the natural aroma and matured in oak barrels in a unique tropical condition,at an altitude of 3,000 feet above sea level at Bangalore, the garden city of India.
To retain the natural characteristics of this oak aged Indian Malt Whisky
Tasting Note
Nose :
Classic house style with glorious bourbon notes fused with the richest of the barley statements; not entirely unlike caramelised biscuit in dunked coffee; oh, and a bit of a spicy attitude, too...
Taste :
There we go with that unique bitter - sweet overture where the oaks and barley appear joined at the hip ; lovely soft oils and then a sharp jolt of blood orange citrus, which is removed by something more buttery and delicate.
Finish :
Long, elegant with the most intricate of fades with the oaks showing various bourbon then buttery characteristics; there is a trace of dark sugar and cocoa to help it along its way.
Other Info :
”Certainly the best non-peated Indian single malt to hit the international market.61.9%”- Jim Murray Rated 92/100.
Award Winning Amrut whisky
Silver Award Winner - Malt Maniacs Awards 2008Bronze Award Winner - IWSC 2008 and 2007
Tasting Note :
Nose :
Gristy smoked barley, kippers with a salted butter peppered bite.
Taste :
The delivery is youthful and barley reaching puberty then suddenly an intensely malty ascendancy followed by a healthy dose of drier oaks.
Finish :
A sublime finale for its sheer delicacy and elegance; the peat no more than oozes, there are cups galore of sugarless medium roast mysore and finally, as a bourbony trail is discovered, soft liquorice and molassed sugar - easily the highlight of the experience; one of the best finishes of year.....
Other Info :
“It is not chill filtered and comes straight from the barrel in its natural color."
Amrut Two Continents Single Malt
Amrut Two Continents starts its historic journey from the golden barley fields of India's North West Provinces, pastoral lands of magical beauty, irrigated by glacial melt waters from the Great Himalayas.
Following a journey of over 2,500 km to Bangalore, situated at over 3,000 feet above sea level in the heart of South India, the malt is lovingly crafted, distilled and matured.
After the Angels of the Orient' have feasted on their sumptuous share from our barrels, they set out on their final journey, being shipped 9,000 km to a secret location in Europe.
The Single Malt of Liquid Gold then undergoes a further maturation in the cooler climes of enchanting Europe, thus combining the exotic with enthralling!
